Engineers sent to India to inspect the setting up of drainage pumps have returned to Guyana.The issue has been a controversial one ever since the Guyana government handed Indian firm Surendra Engineering a US$4 million contract two years ago.Only six of the 14 pumps that were supposed to be delivered are actually here.Lionel Wordsworth, the head of the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA), and private consultant Yhap have returned to India and are preparing a report.Wordsworth said that he could not comment on the findings as their report is being prepared.
