Nineteen-year-old Clayton Westford of 7 West La Penitence was yesterday morning allegedly kidnapped and beaten by masked men.Westford, who is no stranger to the law, was arrested and charged with the Ministry of Health fire two months ago. He is out on bail.Kaieteur News understands that the teen was snatched from his home by gunmen in a black tinted vehicle and taken to an unknown location.Yesterday as this newspaper visited Westford at the hospital we were prevented from speaking to the teen. At the time he had bandages wrapped around his hand and feet. He was also receiving intravenous drips. A senior police official said that he was being protected.When asked about the reason for the protection,Cristian Pavon Jersey, the official said that the teen has very valuable information for the police.According to a police press statement three men dressed in black invaded Westford’s home brandishing firearms. They opened fire at Westford’s home forcing the teen’s mother to open the front door.The three then claimed that they were policemen and when the young man’s mother, Pamela Westford, opened the door to question them the men forced their way into the house, handcuffed Westford and took him away.It was later revealed that the armed men took Clayton Westford to the La Penitence Cemetery where he was badly beaten? for refusing to be a part of the gang that went on a rampage early yesterday morning. It was further stated in the release that the men allege that Westford was talking too much and giving evidence against them.He managed to escape and the men discharged rounds at him but he was not hit.The teen is presently on bail for the arson that led to the destruction of the Ministry of Health on fire.Two other persons have been charged and remanded for allegedly setting the Health Ministry on fire.
