I can go on and on but what have we lost? What has gone wrong today in our industry? Think I have got some ideas.If you can think back it was just mainly cholesterol that was the main product used for hair treatment! Well it was because you really didn’t have to do much hair repair. That’s because much emphasis was spent on maintaining and caring the hair which happens to be the best repair there is.This brings me to this point of the Hair Schools of today and the depth of some of those so called schools. Very little, I have reason to believe, is being imparted to potential Hair Dressers and this leaves them as practical slaves to the trade.Hair Dressing is both a Science and Art of rearranging and maintaining the structure of the hair. This means that it is not just up to a practical trial and errors that can sustain this industry.Let me share a story with you,NFL Jerseys Outlet, there was a young lady who came for a practical aptitude test at our Salon / Spa. She was being tested on a five-part relaxer service where you had to read the instructions to proceed. It turned out that she applied the cream only which is part (1) without the activator which is part (2). The instructions clearly indicated that parts (1) and parts (2) are to be mixed together to be applied. The woman failed the interview. What’s worse was that she was a certified Hair Dresser.Are we allowing the Art to supersede the science of our Profession? Then we will all become practical slaves to the trade. There are scores of Barber shops and Nail Spas and Salons springing up all over the city with little or no Certification, some are even doing Pedicures and Nails haphazardly with little or no sanitation.Is the city council too weak or are they just turning a blind eye? Hair Dressers and barbers are being admitted and accepted to the profession without even a proof of certification from where they were trained in cosmetology and if the institution is duly authorized. It is as if you try to fathom a lawyer or a doctor being admitted to practice law or medicine but they just have to submit a blood specimen, stool test and chest X-ray.That is how ludicrous our profession has become.There is a standard used all over the world by which Cosmetologists/Barbers are accepted to practice and perform Cosmetology. Publicly, it’s called the ‘State Board Exams’.? These exams set by the state ensures a high bench mark by which Cosmetology students are allowed to come into the profession of Cosmetology.This would now mean that if instituted Cosmetology Schools in this country would now have to teach Cosmetology using a syllabus and curriculum accepted by that said State Board.
