As Rural Constable Dulam opened the door of the cell, one of the four prisoners struck him with a piece of wood and three of the detainees, including the one armed with the wood, ran out.As they were making the dash to freedom, the prisoner also dealt Sergeant Beaton a blow to his head causing him to fall. Ranks gave chase and were able to nab 55-year old robbery suspect Jamwat Seelall, of Brighton Village as he made his way to the Number Fifty-one Village Public Road.According to police reports, charges are to be laid shortly against Jamwat Seelall. The two injured police ranks were subsequently taken to the Skeldon Hospital where they were treated and sent away.
